Residential Care
For those who need daily support with personal care, mobility, medication or simply the reassurance of having experienced people around, residential care at The Lodge means a proper home, not a facility.
Every resident has an individual care plan, developed with them and their family, and regularly reviewed as needs change. Our care team provides 24-hour support, but the emphasis is always on helping people live as independently and comfortably as possible. We're here when you need us, and out of the way when you don't.
With just 25 residents, our team genuinely knows every person. Their preferences, their routine, what makes a good day. That familiarity is the foundation of good care, and it's something only a smaller home can offer consistently.
Dementia Care
Our team has particular expertise in supporting people living with dementia. It's not an add-on service. It's central to what we do, and we don't charge a penny extra for it.
We take a person-centred approach, which in practice means we get to know each resident as an individual: their history, their personality, their preferences, what brings them comfort and what causes them stress. We build their care around who they are, not around a generic dementia care plan.
The home itself supports this. The Lodge is calm, manageable in scale, and easy to navigate. With just 25 residents, it doesn't have the noise, long corridors or institutional feel of larger homes that can be unsettling for people living with dementia. Our gardens, recognised with the Maldon in Bloom Gold Award in 2025, provide a safe, stimulating outdoor environment that's proven to benefit wellbeing.
We'd encourage you to read our care case studies to see real examples of how we support residents with dementia and the difference it makes.
Your Own Space in a Beautiful Listed Home
Every resident at The Lodge has their own private, furnished room in our Grade II listed building. The rooms have the character you'd expect from a period home: good proportions, natural light, and a sense of space that modern buildings can't match.
You're welcome to bring personal belongings, photographs, small furniture and anything that makes the room feel like yours. Some rooms include en-suite facilities. We also have a small number of companion rooms for couples who wish to stay together, or for residents who prefer sharing.
The home has fully adapted bathing facilities and mobility equipment for those who need additional support. Every room is designed to be comfortable, accessible and, above all, personal.
Proper Meals, Cooked Fresh Every Day
Our in-house kitchen team holds the highest five-star food hygiene rating from the Food Standards Agency. All meals are freshly prepared on site: three meals a day, plus snacks, refreshments and drinks throughout the day, all included in the weekly fee.
Menus are designed around what residents enjoy and are updated regularly. We cater for a range of dietary requirements and preferences, and residents always have a say in what goes on the menu. Dining is social: residents eat together in our dining room, and mealtimes are one of the highlights of the day.
We believe good food is one of the simplest things that makes somewhere feel like home. It matters, and we take it seriously.
Award-Winning Gardens
The Lodge sits in spacious grounds with large gardens, a working vegetable patch, raised flower beds, fruit trees and outdoor seating with countryside views. In 2025, the gardens were recognised with the Maldon in Bloom Gold Award.
The gardens are an active part of daily life, not just a view from the window. Residents tend the beds throughout the year, and in the warmer months, the garden hosts tea parties, family barbecues and community events. For families visiting, the gardens are often the first thing they comment on.
Clear Honest Pricing
We know that cost matters, and we believe that families deserve to know exactly what they're paying for. At The Lodge, your weekly fee covers everything. There are no hidden extras and no surprise charges.
